What to pack
Participation in the Lungs Up, Legs Down Leadership workshop may require you to secure additional gear. We recommend looking for your equipment at a local store or on the following sites.
MANDATORY GEAR LIST
- Headlamp or flashlight
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen—at least PF 20
- Lip balm
- Food
- Water bottle or bladder—a 100 ounce or 3 liter bladder is preferable
- Shell jacket—a water and windproof shell that is breathable. It should have a hood and fit over all other layers. You will find some that are light and compressible.
- Mid layer—Fleece
- Base layer—a high performance, long-sleeve fabric that wicks moisture—one long-sleeve medium weight shirt and one pair of light or medium weight pants
- Shell pants—you will need pants made of rain-wind resistant material
- Backpack—a 3000 cubic inch pack will be sufficient
- Hiking boots
- Wool socks—SmartWool is recommended
- Non-cotton t-shirt
- Gloves—wind/water resistant preferred. You may want to wear thin base layer gloves under thicker water and wind resistant gloves.
- Hat– Stocking cap—warm wool or synthetic cap.

- Blister kit or small first aid kit

- Gaiters—keeps your socks and boots dry and free from debris
- Knife
- Cotton bandana
- Trekking poles—adjustable poles are preferable
- Relieves pressure and stress on joints downhill
- Fewer lip skid/face plants
